Austin Pets Alive! thanks the community for the outpouring of support in making needed repairs on Town Lake Animal Center.
Town Lake Animal Center saves more than 3,000 animals each year that literally have no where else to go. Austin Pets Alive! was just granted an extension to continue using the facility for 2-5 more years while a permanent shelter is built. "Everyone at Austin Pets Alive, but most importantly the animals, are extremely grateful to the companies and individuals who have come forward to either fund the needed repairs or actually do them". Dr Ellen Jefferson, APA! Executive Director said.
Repairs include replacing rotten wood from overhangs, upgrading kennels, and other minor projects within the next 1-3 months.
Austin Animal Advisory Chair David Lundstedt said "TLAC may be old but it is still saving lives and as the largest No Kill City in the US, that is extremely important".
APA! is committed to continuing our mission to Keep Austin No-Kill by saving the most vulnerable animals in our community and moving forward with exciting plans for the future made possible by the overwhelming support from the community.
Several aspects of the TLAC renovation will likely be donated, but additional costs will undoubtedly be incurred. Please donate now to help us get this place up to code!
