Honey was officially adopted by her new family this week! She is in for a wonderful life. Her new family has two sweet little girls, two doggies, a cat and lots of excitement! They live on a big piece of property with deer and people stopping by often, just what Honey likes!
Her wounds are almost completely healed. I am still amazed at the healing process, I never thought she would heal up as well as she did. I really wasn't sure she was even going to live at first. The first two weeks were really tough, she was in so much pain (even with pain meds) and looked so horrific (see photos here and here, WARNING - VERY GRAPHIC) . We had to do hydrotherapy and bandage changes daily which was quite hard on all of us. We were also quite certain that one of her legs was going to need skin grafts or amputation (see photo here - also very graphic). We were proven wrong! Her hind leg, as well as the front two which had exposed bone and tendon, are all on their way to being completely healed. Her back has just one small area left from the burn (photo is here and isn't too bad), and that should be healed up in another week.
She now acts like a normal, happy, fiesty doggie. I can't even put into words how happy I am with this outcome. She and I went through a lot together, she will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you all so much for all the donations and the thoughts and encouragement you lent us! A big thank you to APA! as well for their compassion in helping animals like Honey.
