Over the past 6 months, Austin has seen thousands of kittens come in to the city shelter. In the past, the unweaned kittens were immediately killed, because they must be fed every 2-3 hours and the city shelter does not have the resources to provide that level of care. Luckily, Austin Pets Alive has been hard at work and has saved the lives of over 1,500 kittens under 6 weeks old by bringing them to our facilities as well as finding them both foster and permanent homes.
Now with kitten season ending in just a few weeks, APA has also reached capacity and exhausted all of our resources and fosters. In order to continue to save the lives of these tiny kittens, we need the community's help and are looking for volunteers who can foster these sweet bottle babies. Bottle babies typically need to be fed every 3-4 hours and they need to stay in foster until they are 8 weeks old.
Fostering these kittens will not only save lives, but will be an extremely rewarding experience. It would be unfortunate to not be able to finish out kitten season by saving these kittens lives, so WE NEED YOU to help!
