We're excited to announce that we will be open on Monday, Martin Luther King Day, and will offer “name your own price” adoption rates throughout the long weekend.
While Town Lake Animal Center will be closed for the holiday on Monday, January 17, the APA! Adoption Resource Center at 2807 Manchaca Road will be open from noon until 7 p.m for Austinites who decide to spend their day off by giving a home to a rescued pet.
“We are excited to host an adoption event on a day when adopters have time time to find the right pet. We hope to bring out additional adopters with our special pricing,” said Dr. Ellen Jefferson, Executive Director of Austin Pets Alive! “Our animals are a part of our APA! family, and we’ll continue to develop creative ways to ensure they find loving homes within the community. ”
Additionally, on Sunday, January 16 from 11 a.m to 6 p.m “Austinville 78704” will be celebrating their Grand Opening just across the street from the Austin Pets Alive! Adoption & Resource Center. Amy’s Ice Cream, Phil’s Ice House, The Soup Peddler & Juicebox will be donating 10% of sales during the event to the organization.
We're especially hoping that a couple particular pets find homes this weekend:
Chip, an eight month old Boxer mix, is searching for a family to call his own. This good-natured, playful pup fits right in with kids and other dogs. Additionally, Queenie, a black domestic short-hair cat with big green eyes, is a lovely companion for humans. She’s smart and will know how to handle any other pets in the household.
