As many of you know, the City of Austin is in the process of hiring a new Chief Animal Services Officer to manage Austin's Animal Services program, including Town Lake Animal Center.
I want to let you know that I have submitted an application and am among a number of candidates still being considered for the position. If the position were ultimately offered to me and I accepted, I want to assure you that Austin Pets Alive!, its officers and employees, and its board of directors remain firmly committed to the organization's mission to make Austin a No Kill City, and that if a leadership transition must occur, it will be handled professionally, smoothly, and expediently. We will not miss a beat in APA's important work!
My interest in the job is to ensure that Austin continues it's trajectory towards No Kill without a step backward while a new candidate gets up to speed. It is critically important that TLAC succeeds right along side of APA and the community if we are to reach our collective goal by the end of 2011.
This is an exciting time for Austin's animals, and we need every one of you to remain as committed as we are. There are lives to be saved, and we need you now more than ever. Thank you for all you do for the animals!
