The Animal Advisory Commission continues its work tonight with the City Staff creating an implementation plan for increasing live outcomes at Townlake Animal Center (TLAC). The topic for tonight's meeting is Offsite Adoptions. The Commission will also finish up work on the TLAC Mission Statement.
An offsite adoption program plays a huge role in making a no kill city. While we would like to think that people want to save dogs and cats and will go to the shelter to adopt them, we've found that not always to be true (certainly there are lots who will, but not enough to adopt all that are there). Taking the pets to sites around the city to increase their exposure greatly increases the adoption rate.
Dr. Jefferson will be making a presentation at this meeting on behalf of Austin Pets Alive! and our offsite adoption program.
The Animal Advisory Commission will meet at the Austin Energy Building at 721 Barton Springs at 6:30. The meeting is in the First Floor Assembly Room. Free parking is available in the parking garage behind the Austin Energy Building.
