Lots of progress has been made on our trailer over the last couple of weeks. We have a schematic of the trailer layout posted here. As you can see, the feeding area for the neonatal kittens is in the room on the right and the public area, where people can meet and adopt kittens old enough for adoption is on the left.
The room on the right is ready to go and this photo is of our first litter of babies who were on the euthanasia list today and need to be bottle fed for a couple of weeks. While we will be taking it a little slowly in the next couple of weeks to work out all of the kinks, we plan to save every kitten (and puppy) who would have otherwise been euthanized at TLAC in the future using our foster homes and this trailer.
More photos soon of our kittens in their temporary home and of the public meeting room and the exterior as we finish up those pieces.
Interested in helping? We can still use the following items:
Crates of all sizes (preference for large wire crates, but need all sizes-including plastic carrier crates)
Heating pads
Nebulizers
Bottles (small-kitten sized)
Bottle warmers (the kind used for human baby bottles)
Rolling stool
Sheets
Blankets (fleece and very soft acrylic are best)
Towels
Washrags
Furry stuffed animals
SnuggleSafe discs
SnuggleKitties (furry stuffed animals that contain heat packets and a battery heart beat)
KMR-kitten milk replacement powder
Small microwave
Fox valley kitten milk replacer powder
Kitten canned food
Cat litter
Cotton balls
Hand sanitizer
Digital scales
Tupperware
Cash ($150 pays for one kitten. On average, each kitten costs $250 and we get $100 from adoption fees.)
If you have any of these items that you can donate, you can drop them off with the dog adoption counselor at the adoption site right next to the trailer at our S. Congress location or you can send an email to [email protected]. Thanks for your help, Austin!
