If you've been on South Congress lately, you've probably seen a huge silver trailer in the parking lot where we do adoptions. We found a used trailer for a good price and are moving forward with setting it up to be our first neonatal trailer. If you've noticed that the number of dogs and cats killed at TLAC significantly increased in May, that's due to kitten season and the flood of underage kitten arriving.
Our trailer will house bottle-baby kittens (and some puppies) who need to be fed every 2 hours. We have wonderful fosters already doing this, but this will allow us to save every bottle baby that comes into TLAC.
The public will be able to watch through windows and see the bottle babies sleeping, playing, and getting fed (the right side).
We'll also have an area where the public can come inside and meet and play with kittens who are old enough for adoption (the left side).
The demolition has already finished (we'll post photos of the before photos when we're finished). Now we're working on getting the trailer worthy of being on S. Congress.
We still need help from skilled craftsmen like carpenters and electricians. If you can donate some time, the kittens and puppies would be so appreciative! Please send us an email at [email protected] if you'd like to help out.
