Every animal that is adopted out through Austin Pets Alive! gets spayed or neutered before going to their new home. For the first year of operation we have used local veterinary clinics, such as Emancipet, to get these services done. Unfortunately, this limits the number of animals we have been able to save from the animal shelter because our partner vet clinics have been very full and don’t have enough appointment space to accommodate the number of animals we want to save.
Thanks to a very generous donor, we were able to purchase an airstream trailer and all of the supplies needed to open our own spay and neuter clinic! Now we can perform our own sterilization surgeries, about 100 a week!
This surgery unit is so vital to our success and ability to save animals, and we couldn’t have done it without the generosity of an anonymous donor. Now, we need your help!
Donate to get an animal neutered: Donate $30 to pay for one animal’s surgery!
Volunteer to help recover the animals after surgery – We need help keeping the animals warm, comfortable, happy and healthy while they recover from their surgery. The hours would be any time during the day, Monday – Friday. The clinic is generally open 8:30AM – 6PM, and we need any amount of help anytime during those hours. No medical experience necessary – just the ability to give the animals love and attention after surgery -we’ll give you any training you need. Thanks again to all of our donors and volunteers for their continued support!
