Canine Distemper Virus is a highly contagious, often fatal disease that infects countless shelter dogs each year due to lack of proper vaccinations. Caring for a dog suffering from distemper can be a rewarding experience, but the road to recovery can be long and difficult for both dog and caretaker.
Ozzy's Fund is named after an amazing pup who battled distemper but unfortunately did not survive the fight. This fund was started by his fosters who wanted his memory to live on as well as help other dogs who are in the fight for their lives, battling this tough disease.
Over the past few weeks, Austin Pets Alive has taken in multiple cases of distemper (APA! is the only rescue in Central Texas that will actively take distemper dogs in an effort to try to save them), including the gorgeous Pepper litter - Phronsie is pictured here. However, treating distemper is no easy task. It takes many hours of foster time, veterinary time, and many medical expenses as well. So we need your help - please consider a donation to Ozzy's Fund so we can continue to help these puppies battle distemper so they can have a chance at a long, healthy life. Thank you!
