Poppy was the tiniest puppy. She weighed just 1.1 pounds when she was diagnosed with Parvovirus (parvo.) This disease can be fatal if not treated properly. In traditional shelters, a diagnosis of parvo would be a death sentence because it is highly contagious and because treatment requires round-the-clock intensive care.
Fortunately for Poppy, she was sent to Austin Pets Alive!’s groundbreaking Parvo ICU. Our dedicated medical staff and volunteers work tirelessly to keep these puppies medicated, fed and hydrated until they clear the virus, because they believe their lives are worth saving.
Tiny Poppy proved she was a fighter and survived. As she began to feel better each day, her wonderful personality began to shine through. She is playful and sweet, has more than doubled her weight, and her new family adores her. Without APA!, Poppy might have been a statistic.
We couldn’t save puppies like Poppy without your support. Won’t you contribute today?
If you donate before December 31, the Riseman Foundation and an anonymous donor will match your donation, up to $15,000.
