Duke had his eye and neuter surgeries last week and is doing great! We're so happy that now he can blink pain-free. We can't imagine how long he must have endured his condition and are amazed at how sweet he still is.
All he needs now is a couple of months on his special hypoallegenic diet and he'll be gorgeous. He's actually ready for adoption now.
We no longer think he is a pit bull. According to the friend of the owner who was there the day we pulled Duke out of TLAC, the owner's cousin bred him and he is an American Bulldog (although he didn't sound like he was 100% sure). But most think he looks like a Cane Corso, the Italian Mastiff.
He seems to be good with other dogs, we're still not sure about cats. He and the foster's other older, male dog aren't loving each other (two older males are going to be less likely to bond than two dogs of different genders or ages), but Duke is not aggressive in any way.
