Tanner is a boxer puppy who ended up at the animal shelter with a crushed pelvis and was placed on the euthanasia list. Fortunately APA! was able to rescue him and get him into a new, loving home. Unfortunately, the new adopters developed allergies to him and were unable to keep him. They returned Tanner earlier this month, and we discovered that his pelvis apparently healed well, but one of his toes on his back right foot had some nerve damage and needed to be amputated. Dr. Jefferson and I went to an animal hospital today and got him some x-rays to see how well everything was healing - we were a little afraid he might need hip surgery as well as the toe removal! Thankfully, the x-rays showed that his hips are in great shape and his pelvis healed perfectly! We went ahead with the toe amputation, and believe it or not, Tanner was up and wagging his tail and giving kisses right away after surgery. I'm amazed at what a sweet, wonderful dog Tanner is, and I really hope he gets his forever home soon!
