Dec 14, 2011
The Austin Pets Alive! Tarrytown adoption center (3108 Windsor Rd) will be hosting a fun-filled event this weekend to celebrate three of our longest-stay cats: Bluebell, Oreo & Margaret. The event runs from Noon-5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, Dec.17th & 18th.
Bluebell, a 4-year old female blue tabby who rescued in February of this year.
Bluebell suddenly lost her family when she was abandoned at the Emergency Clinic with another kitty. Bluebell has an allergy that is hypersensitive, requiring she be on a limited ingredient diet (high protein, and available at any pet store), sprinkled with a food supplement, and a steroid injection a couple of times a year. Her adopter will receive a supply of food & supplement and APA! will provide injections, as needed. She is affectionate and will easily head-butt your hands whenever you’re near. She is tolerant of other cats and would do best in a home without small children. She is a quiet gal, enjoys her long naps in whatever warm spots she can find, and has been a staff and volunteer favorite since we’ve known her.
To celebrate Bluebell, we will be offering visitors Bluebell ice cream!
Oreo, a 3-year old female black & white Tuxedo who was rescued in March of this year.
Oreo was surrendered by her family when they moved into an apartment that didn't allow pets. Since then, Oreo has transferred to several of our adoption centers in the hopes of finding her forever home. Obviously, this gets to be a bit stressful, and Oreo is a stress eater so now we affectionately call her "Double-Stuff." Oreo remains very healthy, and affectionate. She gets jealous when people visit other cats in her enclosure and her Diva side will come out. Oreo is mellow, yet mischievous. Affectionate, yet independent. She will do best in a calm home where she is the only cat so she can get all the lovin'.
To celebrate Oreo, we will have Oreo cookies for her visitors!
Margaret, a 2-year old female brown tabby who rescued in April of this year.
Margaret is a lovely brown tabby with lynx-like ear tufts and some hints of golden and orange in her beautiful coat. Her green eyes are probably her best feature. Margaret is affectionate and sweet, chatty when she wants a pet or two, and playful. She has often been caught playing with toys when no one is looking. She is a happy girl, and makes biscuits often in her bed or on her favorite carpet tower perch. Margaret was rescued from the Bastrop shelter as a momma with her 3 babies, and then she nursed several orphans. We have had many potential adopters for Margaret, but for some reason she remains at our adoption center...waiting. She's a patient lady-cat, and we know her perfect home is out there. We hope she finds it for the holidays.
To celebrate Margaret, we will be featuring Margarita cupcakes from Hill Country Cupcake. We will also have a raffle for gift certificates to local Mexican restaurants for some amazing food and margaritas!
Please consider stopping by if you would like to meet any of these lovely ladies and make a donation in their honor. APA! Tarrytown is located at 3108 Windsor Road, west of Mopac just before the stoplight at Exposition Blvd.
