Update 9/27: Teddy is going in for surgery first thing Tuesday (9/28) morning. The vets say that he has been doing well with them. We'll post more after he gets out of surgery.
Update 9/24 9:30PM: Dr. Vasanjee at the Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center says he can fix both of Teddy's legs! He broke both his legs at the humerus (both lateral condyles broken off and one medial condyle). Joints appear ok. They are going to take good care of him this weekend and will operate on Monday or Tuesday. Thank you to all of the amazing, generous people who have donated to help him.
Update 9/24 7:30PM: Teddy is at the specialty vet and we're hoping the surgeon can see him tonight. The first vet is concerned that his legs are not going to be fixable and Teddy may need to be euthanized, based on the x-rays. The specialty vet will get more x-rays and will let us know. We'll post an update as soon as we get it.
"He's crying in pain, and we can't get him to look at us or move his foot away from his face"
This statement along with the photo was just sent to me by one of our rescue coordinators right before she pulled him into our program.
Teddy, a four month old plott hound mix, was found today on Ben White and was taken to Town Lake Animal Center where he couldn't stay, because he is in so much pain.
Teddy was picked up by one of our volunteers and was taken to a veterinarian. We believe his front two elbows are broken. The initial word from the vet is that the injuries are severe and we are probably going to have to take him to an emergency hospital for surgery tonight.
We can really use help to raise funds to pay for his surgery. His total costs will be $3,000.
