Because these are dogs who have been living in a shelter environment for anywhere from 2-6 months, we heard some concerns about having them as part of the program. After all, there must be something wrong with a dog who hasn’t been adopted after such a long time, right? WRONG!
These amazing dogs are changing hearts and minds at the trail site every weekend! There is often no good explanation for why one dog gets adopted after a day and another dog stays in an adoption program for months, waiting to find their forever home.
What is for sure is that these long-stay shelter dogs – every single one of them – are wonderful, dynamic individuals who deserve all of the opportunities we can give them to find their homes.
There’s Mason, a strikingly handsome Harrier mix who loves to lean up against you for some snuggles as much as he loves to walk the trail.
Bluebird, an intelligent, sweet as pie Pit mix with a one of the best temperaments we've ever seen.
Mason, Bluebird, and more are waiting to meet you and show you that "long stay" does not mean "bad dog." In fact, living without a home for as long as they have and keeping their wonderful dispositions shows resilience, strength of spirit, courage, and hope.
