Tonight, as part of the planning sessions to make Austin no kill, the AAC and TLAC will discuss how to maximize public relations, public input, and candor. A huge part of no kill success is public relations.
We know that there are enough homes that open up every year (about 75,000) to adopt the pets we're currently killing (6,161 last year). Good PR can help us connect not only with those homes, but also with volunteers, donors, and people having pet troubles who might just need a little help to avoid surrendering their pet.
Come to the meeting tonight to discuss ideas on increasing PR for Austin's homeless animals.
This is the second-to-last meeting for exploring new ideas and taking public input. If you haven't made it to a meeting yet, you have tonight and next Monday left.
Tonight's (1/18/09) meeting will take place at 6:30 at the Austin Energy building in the First Floor Assembly Room, 721 Barton Springs Road.
