Meet Topper, a Lhasa Apso mix pup that was adopted through the Austin Pets Alive!'s Dog Program this year.
Topper came to APA! in May of 2015 with a history of elevated bile acids, increased ALT and ammonium urate stones. Robyn Roberts RDMS from MettaSound Veterinary Imaging performed an ultrasound on him back in July which diagnosed a porto caval shunt in his liver.
A liver shunt surgery and bladder stone removal was performed by Dr. David Allman from Mobile Veterinary Specialist back in October. Topper is recovering well in his adoptive home. MettaSound will be doing a post surgical ultrasound on Topper this week to make sure he is as good as new.
A huge thank you goes out to Robyn Roberts RDMS and Dr. David Allman for providing clinical support for our extreme cases like Topper that are typically cost prohibitive for APA!. Thanks to you Topper is happy and now healthy in his forever home!
