Jonah, now named Oliver, is doing fabulous! His adopter reports that he is spunky and lively, adorable, and a little tasmanian devil (but a cute one!), loves belly rubs and loves to give kisses.
We wanted to share a little bit about how Jonah and his adopter came to be together.
Lynda had a brain aneurism in august and recently underwent surgery. She felt lucky it was not any worse but she did have to change her whole lifestyle, and is still not allowed back to work. Despite the trying times she felt blessed to have survived, but started to get lonely being home and alone. Lynda had been divorced for a year, and had two poodles that both recently passed from old age. Being a part of a family of dog lovers, especially of rescue dogs, Lynda didn't really think of any other route to go.
Lynda wanted to start looking for a new companion but didn't plan on getting a puppy given her situation. Her daughter found APA! and they decided we were the organization they wanted to adopt from. The minute she saw Jonah on the website she fell in love. She read about how Jonah was taken off the euthanasia list and all the surgeries he had to undergo at such a young age and decided she just had to meet him. She felt a connection: he needed a lot of care and love and so did she. It seemed like a perfect match, they'll recover together!
When she met him he just ran to her. She's not supposed to bend over but she had to land on her knees and let him jump on her and kiss her, Lynda was hooked.
Jonah has brought so much joy to her life already. She's normally a very active woman and Jonah has given her a purpose again. He sleeps with her, and goes everywhere with her. We couldn't have hoped for a better match.
Our special needs pets attract those looking to give some extra TLC, and are hoping for some in return of course. In addition to adopters for these special pets, we also need fosters who want to offer that extra care and help them find their forever homes.
