We are so pleased to report that the last of the Barker's Dozen went to its forever home today. That's right, all twelve pups have found fabulous homes!!! Even Tinkerbell, the runt, found a great home after getting her much deserved clean bill of health. She had an ultrasound a week ago that showed all of her organs were clear and healthy. So the cause of the big belly is just a mystery - and maybe just too much tlc. We are now comfortable that she'll just grow into that belly and know that all of the horrible possible causes were negative. We are still hoping for donations to help cover the medical bills that accrued while doing all those tests. But it was money well spent since we got great news and she now has a great new home.
All of the pups found such great homes and by all reports are being spoiled rotten. The pups have fuzzy family members to play with, kids who adore them, and moms and dads who understand that the dog isn't the only one who wins when you adopt a rescue dog. All of these families helped to save a life, and it will be the gift that keeps on giving to them forever. One of the new names for the pups is Karma. Good Karma indeed.
The final pup left today and was one of the litter favorites of just about everyone who met her. We couldn't believe she was the last to go. But her forever home was worth the wait. She was adopted by a family that adopted one of our former foster dogs a year ago and have given her a dream life. What a coincidence! They just happened to see one of my web postings for the pup and emailed not knowing who I was. And we didn't know they were looking for a baby sister for the other dog they adopted from us.

Now Maggie needs a home of her very own. She has been such a great mom to this huge brood and fought to keep them alive. Motherhood for a dog is pretty disgusting. Between eating poop and licking up pee and having 12 puppies pawing and suckling at you almost non-stop for a couple of months, there just isn't really time for a Calgon moment. But Maggie kept her sweet and gentle nature thru it all. She is fabulous on a leash and is really enjoying going on walks, playing fetch and playing with her foster siblings. She also loves just hanging out and getting petted and loved on while we watch TV. She is very eager to meet that special someone who will treat her like the puppy she is, and let her put this whole failed condom incident behind her. She is spayed, HW negative and up to date on all shots, If you like long walks, cuddling on the couch, throwing balls and wet sloppy kisses, Maggie may be the girl of your dreams.
