surgery was not successful. Tipsy is 11 months old and has now undergone 2 surgeries this year to repair a congenital heart defect referred to as a PDA. The medical staff, volunteers, and as you can imagine her foster family, are all incredibly disappointed Tipsy is still not able to move on from this.
Austin Pets Alive! is a one of a kind organization. There are no other organizations that are similar in size and resources that share the no-kill mission. Do we pursue surgery? Do we stop trying? Are we using our resources wisely? Are we asking too much of our donors? These are questions we ask ourselves when situations like Tipsy's are presented to us. We strongly feel that Tipsy deserves the opportunity to get past this and we continue to be committed to helping her. No-Kill is not easy and it never will be. There are thousands of dogs and cats like Tipsy that are begging us to go the "extra mile" for them. And why?
Because it's the right thing to do.
