Freezing temperatures are here and these love-able dogs are set on staying warm.
The central heating doesn't work throughout the shelter, so space heaters are used to keep two rows of kennels warm. These keep the dogs warm and safe, but are not in compliance with city code. Since a feasible solution was in place to keep the dogs warm through the winter (and we still hope to build our own forever home in the very near future), these expensive repairs had not been made a priority over the medical and routine needs of our furry friends. However, the propane heaters are not in compliance with city code, so they need to be replaced.
Fortunately, many of you have already offered to help following the broadcast on KXAN this week, for which dogs like Frio here are so grateful.
Interested in doing your part to keep these pups nice and warm over the winter?
2) Drop off any or all of the following at our Town Lake location: blankets, towels, large and extra large dog sweaters, beds and bones/other chewables to keep the dogs busy
3) Sign up to foster- even if it's just for the holidays. Every animal here deserves a warm place to stay at the very least from December 24-26th. If you're interested in taking someone home for the holidays (or fostering long-term), fill out an application now.
