7/13 update: GOAL REACHED!
On Wednesday, July 7, Blueberry went to Texas A&M for his MRI and the cost was $1K than expected. Blueberry's adopter shared that the MRI went smoothly and the doctor confirmed hydrocephalus. After the MRI, Blueberry kissed the doctor on the face and walked away with a happy trot and wagging tail. His blood work was perfect and the doctor thinks he will be really strong and ready for the brain shunt procedure.
Blueberry's story touched so many of us and we want to do everything we can to get him on the road to recovery. Your gift, big or small, makes a huge difference for pets like Blueberry. Can you help us round out his care?
6/10 update: $10,000 GOAL REACHED!
At just one year old, Blueberry’s first year of life has been traumatic and full of obstacles no you never want any pet to face. Blueberry has suspect hydrocephalus, which means he either has extra fluid production or lack of properly draining fluid that sits around his brain. This has led to a history of intense and horrifying seizures as well as partial blindness and balance issues.
Blueberry cannot keep living like in this pain and discomfort so we are committed to doing whatever means necessary so he can live a long and happy life. We will be working with veterinarians at Texas A&M to have Blueberry undergo an MRI and a brain shunt.
The MRI will confirm the diagnosis prior to surgery. A brain shunt surgery involved inserting a tube (shunt) into Blueberry’s head to increase the drainage of the fluid, reducing his neurological symptoms.
This is a very invasive and expensive procedure, but at APA! We believe all pets deserve a chance at a comfortable and happy life. Will you chip-in to our $10K goal for pets like Blueberry?
*At times a chip-in fund will raise more than a pet needs. When this happens, rest assured that excess gifts will be used to help another pet in need of your assistance! Thank you for helping us help pets!
