Meet Dozer, the adorable 10 month old Boxer mix! He is such a fun-loving happy little guy! He is incredibly full of life and energy! He really knows no stranger and thinks every thing (and every person!) is a playmate. He has been with Austin Pets Alive! for 1 week now and has won over our hearts!
Dozer must have sustained some sort of injury in his past. His left elbow is growing abnormally and it’s because the growth plate has been affected, we can only guess from the previous injury, and has stunted the growth of that leg. Now he needs to have part of his front arm cut and plated.
Only then will Dozer be fully healed and as “normal” as possible. If the elbow does not get fixed Dozer will continue to compensate causing injuries to his other joints and even his back.
It is sad for such a young dog to have to have such invasive surgery performed but when it’s the only option it must be done. It takes a village to make this happen for the homeless animal population but we owe it to them to do so. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Austin has proven to be one of these “great nations” and YOU can help keep it that way!
Austin Pets Alive! relies on the generosity of our community – find out more about the different ways you can support the animals who need us most!
