Last week, a good samaritan first noticed Jewels wandering around his neighborhood before she ran off. By the time he saw her the following day, she couldn’t move her back legs. Now knowing she had been wandering around as a stray, he decided to bring her to Austin Animal Center so she could receive the attention she needed, which is how she entered our care as an urgent medical case. From her Xrays, it’s clear she has a spinal injury that is preventing her from moving from the waist down. When this happens, it can be a long road to recovery full of constant care, catheters, and pain medications. This is one of the harder cases to treat because there's not one thing to fix, rather a lot of time spent with Jewels to make sure she's comfortable, free of pain and mending. If you can help support us on this journey to healing, please give today.
