Meet Lopez! Lopez is a 4yr old Australian Cattle Dog Mix that arrived at APA the beginning of August. Unfortunately Lopez has some pretty serious medical/orthopedic issues. Lopez was diagnosed with bilateral elbow arthritis and now, just this week, was diagnosed with a cranial cruciate tear (similar to ACL tear) in his back right leg. While normally, if pain medications are given, this surgery can wait months to repair; but because Lopez has arthritis in his front elbows he needs surgery sooner than later to avoid further injuring himself.
Lopez needs a TPLO surgery on his right leg. This surgery will allow him a far better quality of life. Dogs can’t tell us what they need or how much pain they are in but arthritis in the elbows and a bum back leg must not be comfortable. Lopez is on daily pain medications to help him be comfortable but the sooner we can get him into surgery the better for Lopez!
