Meet Sweet Vickie! If you can believe it this beautiful girl has been with APA since December of 2012 and before that the city shelter for 2 months! Needless to say she is ready for her forever home.
One of the reasons Vickie is still with us today is that she needs a home with no other dogs. She prefers the human species. Vickie has come a long way since being picked up as a stray. In the shelter, she had more than 300 hours of training, learning to obey the sit, down, come, drop and take commands. She is also housetrained.
Vickie has developed small masses along her thighs that are scheduled to be surgically removed this week but it would be best to send them to a lab for biopsy as well so we know what they are and can inform potential adopters.
She has not been comfortable in the company of other dogs or kids and hasn’t been observed with cats, so she’ll probably do best as the only pet in a home with adults.
Vickie is a smart, loving girl who just wants to be a lifelong companion for an adopter who will take her for walks, play fetch and return the love she is so ready to give.
All APA adoptions come with free behavior assistance through APA’s behavior team. And remember, when you adopt a dog from APA, you are saving not one, but two lives – the life of the dog you’re bringing into your home, and the next dog APA can save in the adopted dog’s place.
