Taco Cabana's Foreign Body Surgery and Wound Care - FUNDING COMPLETE!

Taco Cabana has been through a great deal in her two years of life. She was found in a Taco Cabana parking lot, hence her name. She was brought into our care as a sick and injured case after being hit by a car from Austin Animal Center. It was there that they also found that this sweet girl was pregnant. We splinted her broken front leg and off she went to a foster home to heal in preparation for her babies. A couple of days ago, the fosters noticed that Taco's health began to rapidly decline; she was vomiting and not wanting to eat. Concerned, they brought her back into our Medical Triage and Wellness Clinic where we took a closer look through Xrays. It was then that we could see she had a foreign body blocking her intestines.

Taco underwent emergency surgery in order to remove the foreign body, which turned out to be a corn cob, something she ingested when she was living as a stray. She is now stable and receiving fluids and daily bandage changes, working to get her healthy before she gives birth. We feel very lucky to have caught this foreign body in time. We're working to raise funds to cover the costs of her surgery, as well as her daily bandage changes, and overall medical care. If you can help us get Taco strong so she can be ready for her babies, this mama and our clinic would be very grateful.
