AUSTIN, TX -- Austin Pets Alive! has been awarded a grant by The Rachael Ray Foundation™ for COVID-19 relief. This grant is part of a larger group of donations, totaling $4 million, that is being made by Rachael Ray’s philanthropies for COVID-19 relief for people as well as pets. Rachael Ray’s philanthropies include The Rachael Ray Foundation and The Yum-o! Organization. This grant will help Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) continue to operate and save pets in this uncertain time as we navigate the COVID-19 crisis and what the future of sheltering looks like. “We are so grateful to Rachael Ray and The Rachael Ray Foundation for including us,” Maggie Lynch, APA!’s Development Director, said. “This grant helps to continue our lifesaving ability through this pandemic so that the pets of Central Texas aren’t forgotten about.” Since the start of the COVID-19 crisis in Austin, APA! has moved the majority of its pet population into foster homes in order to reduce the strain on less staff members and volunteers onsite at the shelter, which has been designated an essential business and is allowed to remain open during the shelter-in-place order. APA! is currently open to the public by appointments only. Those interested in adding a new family member by fostering or adopting a pet are encouraged to visit www.austinpetsalive.org.
