Dana Dean is a lifelong Austinite who graduated from the University of Texas and attended the UT School of Law. She has been a real estate broker for 40 years. Dana grew up surrounded by an assortment of cats, dogs, many birds, and one maniacal monkey. She started volunteering with the city shelter in the late 1980s and then joined Animal Trustees of Austin in 1993, helping with adoptions and garage sales and serving on the Board of Directors. She joined Austin Pets Alive! in 2013 as a Ruff Tail Runner, and when the kitten nursery moved to Tarrytown in 2014, she also began volunteering as a bottle baby feeder. Dana has fostered many litters of kittens as well and has an adorable “foster fail” at home. She really strives to be the person her dog thinks she is.
