Gael Lonergan

Gael Lonergan is originally from Connecticut (go UConn!), went to medical school in D.C., and spent 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a colonel. She moved to Austin to join Austin Radiological Association in 2003 and has been here since, working at Dell Childen’s Hospital as a pediatric radiologist.

She grew up in a family of animal lovers and, as an only child, considers her two childhood dogs the closest thing she had to siblings. Gael has long been active in animal causes, from walking dogs at San Antonio’s Animal Defense League to attending various workshops and volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.

She has been active with Austin Pets Alive! since 2014 in many roles, from dog walker to state capitol policy advocate. She has also fostered several dogs, including a pregnant mother and her five puppies. Gael is thrilled to be a part of APA! and its No Kill mission.
