Meet Gherkin, the curious and playful puppy currently in a foster home surrounded by five siblings and their mama. Gherkin is navigating the world of early socialization, displaying a neutral interaction with resident dogs, setting the stage for adaptability to various canine companions in the future.
In her foster home, Gherkin has proven to be great with teenagers and an 8-year-old neighbor, showcasing good behavior around children of all ages. This fuzzy and photogenic pup exhibits normal behaviors for her age, with typical puppy challenges and a penchant for playful antics.
While not yet venturing into the world of leashes and walks, Gherkin enjoys a fair experience with crating, where she sleeps, hangs out, and plays with her siblings. Although her obedience skills are in the early stages of development, Gherkin's curiosity and playfulness shine through, making her a delightful addition to any loving home.
Gherkin's ideal home would be with parents who have ample time for training and providing a nurturing environment. As a nearly blank slate, she is ready to embark on new adventures and capture hearts with her adorable photogenic moments.
PUPPIES AND OTHER HIGHLY-ADOPTABLE DOGS DISCLAIMER:
Puppies and other highly-adoptable dogs (small dogs or desirable-breed dogs) at APA! are very high in demand and usually have several interested adopters. Inquiring about a dog, meeting a dog, and even applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt the dog. Only one household will be able to adopt each dog, which means all other interested households will inevitably and unfortunately be disappointed. Please consider this in your search and set your expectations accordingly. Please also consider that adult dogs do not typically have competing adopters, and they need furever homes, too! Additionally, APA! does not allow the adoption of dogs who are related (e.g., littermates or mom and pup) to the same household for behavioral reasons.
INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?
This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 12:00PM - 6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!
