Yellowstone has had quite the story thus far and is really looking for a foster or adoptive home to finally settle down in. She came to us with a virus known as Distemper which APA has a lot of experience with and we were able to get her into a foster home where we could support both her and her foster parents. While in the foster's home she had a great time playing with their dogs and never seemed to really care about the cats. The fosters had some upcoming travel so we were already planning for her to return to the shelter, but not before she threw us a total curveball...

Turns out Yellowstone was pregnant!! After not showing any signs of expecting she suddenly started giving birth to 3 adorable little puppies. Unfortunately because of the nature of Distemper we couldn't risk the puppies staying with her and catching it themselves, so a clinic staff member has taken them home to monitor and care for. Meanwhile sweet Yellowstone is back at the shelter when she so desparately needs someone to give her all the snuggles and TLC she deserves right now.

Yellowstone is safe to live with other adult dogs as long as they are fully vaccinated and Distemper is not contagious to cats. If you have a home with a backyard and some extra love to give then you have everything this poor girl needs to move past this really unfortunate part of her life and start making some new memories. Please reach out if you can help her!

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 12:00PM - 6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!
