Bambino came to the shelter as a stray. He was malnourished and severely underweight at 80lbs. We knew we had to introduce food to him as slowly as possible to help him gain that weight back. Now, 33 pounds later, he is thriving with excitement for outdoor playtime and anything to get him moving! He does well with people and greets everyone with a bark or two. He appears to do well with other dogs and is more on the calm side, but he is one treat-motivated pup. Unfortunately, one day while cleaning Bambino's kennel the staff noticed he started limping. After a DVM evaluated the area, they found that he needs a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery. An operation is needed to stabilize the joint and rest/recovery time can take anywhere between 2 to 3 months. A shelter environment is not the best for him in the long term so we would like to send him to a foster home so he can rest and recover from surgery!
