Gilbert came a little broken, sad and seldom smiled. He was low energy and on his walks, he would stop at cars and home doors as if he was looking for his people who dumped him.

He is a very good boy with no stranger danger. He likes everyone he meets and doesn't get overly excited or jump up. He is also quite the gentleman- doesn't beg for food and knows to stay away from the dinner table etc... He knows some commands such as sit, shake, go to bed and stay. I'm training him to sit to be leashed up and wait before dashing out the door, and he learns very quickly.

He is completely house trained and very quiet, seldom barks- no hypervigilance at the door. He stays in my house when I am gone and doesn't get into anything or jump on furniture. He sleeps in his dog bed and is relatively pretty chill. He loves all people and is not prey driven. Mind you, if a cat is running away from him, he thinks it's a game and wants to play chase.

He does fine with my 6 years old mentee and takes treats gently from her hand. He has also met her 3 year old brother and did great as well. He doesn't jump up on them.

Best fit: An active family or individual. He would love a yard to hang out and does enjoy his daily walks/jogs. Gilbert runs so gracefully- looks like a horse galloping. He is curious about dogs and cats and I believe he could definitely live with a dog that matched his chill energy and probably cats too . He is sweet as pie and the true definition of loose leash walker. He is very treat motivated and quite a gem. His breed, German Shepherd, needs a job to perform, so I give him a frozen kong to work on and snuffle dish for his food. Treats "hidden" in different places.
