Dog Behavior Fund

Need 6 51

Project Overview

A $100,000 dog behavior emergency fund will allow us to provide the equipment, tools, and training to continue to take in and work with dogs who are fearful or have experienced trauma, and who truly have nowhere else to go.

APA!’s Dog Behavior Program provides the dogs in our care all available resources to enhance their quality of life and prepare them for life outside of APA! — which, in many cases, involves training and rehabilitation for dogs who have experienced significant trauma. The program is organized into three parts: dog playgroups; Canine Good Citizen Training and Total Obedience Program training; and adoption follow-ups, which can include phone consultations, private lessons, and, of course, unlimited support for life. Over 300 dogs come through our Dog Behavior Program every year. These are dogs who would very likely lose their lives in other shelters, but at APA! they are given the chance to gain the experiences and life skills they need to live and thrive.
