How cute is Isis! Isis came to APA! as a parvo positive dog. Her owners surrendered her to us because they could not afford her treatment. Isis was very sick in parvo and it took 2 weeks of very intense treatment to get her better. After she fought parvo she had a lot of secondary medical issues to deal with. She had dangerously low protein that caused her to have excess fluid accumulation, pneumonia, blood in her urine and was force fed for a week. Thankfully she is now better and very happy and sweet but needs to be on long-term antibiotics.
Isis is a good example of the medical costs APA incurs on a daily basis. Her parvo treatment alone costs upwards of $1000. APA believes every puppy deserves a chance regardless of cost but we need all the help we can get!
