Ulysses wants to explore! – FUND COMPLETE! THANK YOU!

He couldn’t stand or hold up his head and was not responsive – he was in shock. We don’t really know what happened to him. He could have been hit by a car or experienced some other kind of trauma. At that time, we were really unsure if he would survive. Our vets immediately began shock treatment and Ulysses responded immediately to the treatment. He was able to pick his head, become aware, and let us know that he definitely wanted to live!

Now that he was more stable, we performed x-rays of his spine, hips and legs. Ulysses’s left femur is completely broken in halfand the bones have overlapped. His right femur is also completely out of his hip joint. Even with those injuries, Ulysses has a great temperament. He is a loving and sweet boy! He’s a young boy at 1 year old and has lots of years of play ahead of him.

Both of these leg injuries need to be corrected by surgery as soon as possible to promote appropriate healing. Normally, orthopedic leg surgeries are done one at a time so that the dog can continue to use one leg while the other heals. Unfortunately, since Ulysses can’t stand at all – he needs to have both legsdone at once. This means that we need to raise funds to perform both surgeries.

Can you help APA raise the money needed to get Ulysses walking again?
