Two steps forward, one step back

Isn’t that how it always seems to go when you are trying to get ahead? Honey has been doing great, but has had two small setbacks this week.  Two areas that were stitched closed have dehisced ( in other words have broken open). One of these areas is on her back and should do ok with no additional suturing. The other is on her left hip and may need to be stitched closed tomorrow as it is very deep. All in all though, Honey seems to be handling it all well. She is still as sweet as can be! She again, says thanks to all the people who have been following her progress (She actually said “woof woof woof”) but her foster mom translated for her :-)

I would like to know how she recovers from the surgery today. I’m concerned her wounds will not heal. What might be the complications of her wounds not healing? Will her organs start to fail? My heart goes out to this dog. I wish they could find who did this to her and do the same to them!

I will keep posting her progress on this blog. If we do need to do additional stitches today, she will only be under anesthesia for a short while and should be fine. In the grand scheme of her healing, this is only a minor setback. All of her wounds should eventually heal, they may need help with skin grafts, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it. For now we are focusing on the larger areas and once those heal we will work our way down. She is not in any imminent danger of her organs failing, her problems are mostly just skin related. She is doing well and is in good spirits!

There hasn’t been a post on Honey in awhile. How is she doing?
