1 of the Del Valle 14 needs a special angel

by austinpetsalive • Posted in: Rescue

Toby (A540158), one of the Del Valle 14, is one of the most charming of the group…and needs the most help.  This poor boy has some problems with his legs and feet and is having issues with mobility.  He’s the kitty in the KXAN photo.

TLAC sedated him, trimmed his ingrown claws (they were bloody and growing into paw pads), and put him on treatment for URI.  He’s doing great, charming every visitor who walks in.  He can get around, but needs traction, and obviously has made it this far in life.

Is there anyone out there who can help this special boy?

I’d be interested in, at the very least, fostering him but don’t know when I would be able to get down there to pick him up! Who can I contact for more information?

Is he the only one left of the 14 who has not been fostered or adopted?

Thank you, Amanda! If you can foster this little guy, just fill out our foster application here: http://www.austinpetsalive.org/get_involved/foster.php and leave us some notes about your situation.

As of last night, when TLAC closed, there were still 5 cats left (listed in the previous post). TLAC will reopen again today at 11:30.

Does fostering one of these cats mean taking care of the cat for 10 days of cold treatment then returning it? Seems the rush on these cats is the fact they have colds.

That’s correct – they couldn’t stay at tlac because of the colds. However, they can’t go back to tlac, so fostering is a commitment until the cat is adopted. APA! has lots of adoption opportunities and can usually move cats through our system pretty quickly (a few weeks).
