Lori Piglet

Lori is my piglet.  She is sweet, smooshy, snuggly, a little bit snorty, and full of love.

I love her too and it makes me sad to see her going through a pretty tough time that she really doesn’t deserve.  She’s a wonderful, happy girl who belongs in a home with people to play with, and cuddle, and go for walks, and roll in the grass with her.  Instead, she’s becoming a veteran of the shelter system at just one year old.

Lori came to APA! from the kill list at Town Lake Animal Center when she was about 9 months old.  It’s a very common story.  She’s not even crazy high energy, but she’s energetic enough and at that doggie adolescence age that is very over represented on kill lists at shelters around the country.

These goofy, bouncy, canine teenagers are pretty much my favorite dogs.  They’re hilarious.  They’re fun to train.  They keep you on your toes and make you laugh.  But they don’t do well cooped up in kennels for a big part of their day.  It’s a lot to ask of these dogs who just want to be happy alongside their people.

Lori just celebrated her first birthday and her gift was to move to a foster home and relax away from the shelter.  I do not want her to come back.  I love her and miss her already but I want her person or people to come along and scoop her up and take her home to stay.

She is very scoopable.  She’s also very huggable and so much fun to spend an afternoon with.  Rolling around in the grass is one of her specialties.  So is taking a snorty little nap with her face and paws in your lap.  She’s great on leash, rides well in a car, and something about that face just makes you want her as your adventure buddy.

So, people of Austin, please come scoop up my Lori Piglet and take her home where she belongs.  She will love you very much and I feel completely sure that you will love her too.

I’m Lori’s foster mom, and I just had to leave a comment about this darling. She is by far the easiest foster I’ve ever had. She is a pure delight to have around! Moving from a shelter into a real home environment has really mellowed her out a lot, because no one who sees her now would think she’s too energetic. She’s the laziest, most loveable dog in the world! She absolutely LOVES people, and she gets excited to greet absolutely everyone she meets. Right now this still entails some jumping up, and licking of faces, hands, and anything she can get, because we’re still working on good manners when greeting people. But once she’s had a chance to thoroughly love, and be loved on by each person, she calms down amazingly quickly. Her natural state is very relaxed and low key. Lori is one of those rare dogs who I can honestly say would even be happy with apartment living. She has never whined, (I’m not sure she knows how!) and I didn’t hear her bark until I had her for a week! She goes days without making a peep. Lori is a couch sitting, nap taking, tv watching dog! She is happy with mild to moderate activity daily, and sometimes she even lays down in the middle of a walk and decides she’s done for the day. She is extremely easy to please, and her heart happiness only requires a warm human to snuggle with, and give her all the love and praise she deserves. My boyfriend and I, as well as everyone she meets falls head over heels in love with her. Lori is such good girl, and just needs a forever home to make her life complete!
