Keep your dogs inside on the 4th

by admin • Posted in: Awareness/ PR

Every year, TLAC becomes flooded with lost dogs right after the 4th of July.  Most of these dogs were outside and became scared and panicked when the fireworks started and busted out of their fences.  Most of the owners assumed that their fences were secure, since their dogs hadn’t broken out before, and were surprised at how their dogs managed to get out.  To keep your dog safe this year, bring them inside.

And not just on the 4th . . . Official Fireworks Events happen all throughout the Independence Day weekend, and unofficial fireworks can happen at any time . . . if you have neighbor kids, they might play with small but noisy fireworks (aka noisemakers!) at any time over the weekend (3:27pm on Thursday, 5:15pm on Saturday, etc.).

It is best not to leave your dog outside unattended at any point this weekend. It is a minor inconvenience to keep an eye on your dog while he/she is outside this weekend. But it is a major hassle to have to find a lost dog, pick him/her up from TLAC, or rush him/her to the emergency vet after a tangle with traffic. The extra vigilence will be well-worth the effort!

    Happy July 4th!
