First adoption of the “Save A Life Drive!” What Number Will You Be?

by austinpetsalive • Posted in: Adoptions, Awareness/ PR

On Monday we had our first adoption of our Save A Life Drive for the ASPCA 100K Challenge! Former parvo pup Gorilla went home to Katie, her husband and their dog Jake. This was just the first adoption of what we hope to be 2,000 adoptions! What number will you be?

We adopted our first dog, Jake, almost 8 years ago and we are just so in love with him that we knew we wanted to adopt again.   We wanted to be patient and select the dog that we knew was right for our family.  We did a lot of research on breeds and thinking about the size of the dog we wanted.  Once we met Gorilla, we knew he was the one for us.  Gorilla and Jake got along great at the meet and greet.  Gorilla was pretty laid back, but still playful and seemed to be just the right temperament and personality for us.  And hes a lab mix, which is perfect for us.  Once he has all of his vaccinations, I can’t wait to take him swimming!

The people at APA are all absolutely amazing and what they do is so fantastic!  To think that this little guy wouldn’t even be around if it wasn’t for you guys, just really blows my mind.  Everyone was great to work with, answered all of my questions, and were all very informative.  Also, everyone responded very quickly to any correspondence!  As you can imagine, I was a bit on the excited side about our puppy, and nobody kept me waiting on pins and needles :)  So that was greatly appreciated.  Thank you all for everything.

Thank you for adopting Gorilla! I volunteer in the parvo ward and got to know Gorilla very well. :) He was always such a great snuggle buddy. I can’t wait to see updates on him as he gets bigger and healthier.

I’m also a volunteer in the parvo ward, and I think everyone in there loved Gorilla so much. Happy he made it through and you guys found him :) If you want any pictures for your Gorilla photo album of him fighting parvo but still looking darn cute let me or Carla know and we can email you a bunch. Thanks for taking Gorilla (if that’s still his name) and Jake into your home!

Thanks so much for adopting Gorilla! I transported him and subsequently named him after a big goofy chocolate lab I know ;) He is a great puppy and only alive today because of APA! amazing Parvo ward (and parvo ward volunteers and supporters). I’m so glad this puppy, and so many others, get the chance to not only to live but to be adopted to amazing homes because of APA!
