National Shelter Check-in Day

Austin Pets Alive! is excited to be participating in Best Friends Animal Society‘s first-ever National Shelter Check-in Day!

We know Austinites love to share their destinations with their online friends, and location-based apps and servies like foursquare offer the chance to do just that. As an incentive for those that visit our Adoption & Resource Center, APA! will be offering a raffle and special adoption goody bags for those that “check in” at our 2807 Manchaca Road headquarters this Saturday, November 12 from noon to 7 p.m.

National Shelter Check-in Day is part of a larger campaign that Best Friends is hosting to bring awareness to animals waiting for homes in shelters nationally. According to Best Friends:

“The Invisible Dogs campaign is all about shining a light on local shelters around the country and letting the public know that there are incredible animals waiting for a home. They just need to be seen. The National Animal Shelter Check-in Day is another way to make that happen.”

For those that check in with foursquare and send to Twitter or Facebook, try using the hashtag #invisibledogs to help bring further awareness to the cause. We hope to see you there, both online and in person!
