Meet Rocky, who looks like a Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Staffordshire Terrier mix. He came into our program after being removed from a cruelty case – we had to surgically remove his collar because it was so tight that it had grown into his neck.
After what he’s been through, he’s still an amazingly friendly guy and loves to lean against us and try to get in our laps. Understandably, he bonds more easily with dogs right now than he does with people and could use a patient person to train him and show him how great people can be. He loves to go on walks and runs and is already house-trained.
While he likes other dogs, a professional trainer recommended that he be the only dog in the home, at least for now, as he might bond too strongly with the other dog in the house and not the people. And he likes to chase cats, so he should go to a cat-free home too.
