Curious, Playful, Clever
Introducing Pierced the Toast!
Pierced the Toast - or Pierce, as his fosters call him - is a very curious cat! In the mornings, he spends at least an hour watching birds and chirping at them. Curious what his humans are up to, he always follows them around. He even manages to get himself into the most unusual predicaments like getting behind the washer. (Don't worry, he got out immediately after scaring himself!)
Pierce is also an athletic kitty who is immediately ready to play after he wakes up from a nap and at night. Since he loves to scare his humans with his "intimidating crab walk" and LOVES to hunt and hide in his tunnel, he sounds like quite the character too! His favorite toys in the world are his plastic pink springs and plastic balls. When a play session is on, Pierce may yell at you to hurry and pick the ball up already!
Pierce is not much of a snuggler and he only likes to get held when he asks, which he does by scrunching his back near you. He shows his affection by following you around. If there's a door separating the two of you, he'll put his paws under the door because he wants to be near you. However, he's always super lovey when he wakes up from his naps and he generally enjoys getting pets on his head and booty!
This handsome void is moderately vocal. He is usually quiet during the day but in early mornings and nights, he is either chirping at the birds and meowing for food. When he wakes up from a nap, his meow sounds like his voice is cracking. Pierce is, however, very vocal about things he wants. He will tell you when he's hungry, when he wants to play, and when he's unhappy about something. He will only ever yowl when a door is closed and he desperately wants his humans' attention.
While in foster care, Pierce hasn't met other cats or dogs but he has become very fond of his foster's 13-year-old daughter. He enjoys playing with her and respects her space as long as she respects his. He follows her around a lot and loves to wake her up by jumping in her bed and walking all on her. With that in mind, he may do well in a household with similarly respectful children.
The ideal home for Pierce would include a very patient and loving person that respects his space and regularly play with him. Someone who loves to have a handsome void-shaped shadow following them around would be appreciated too!
Pierced the Toast has tested positive for the Feline Leukemia Virus. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Pierced the Toast can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV+ care.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
