Bella Baxter came to us as a young mama with six kittens in tow. Her babies have now all gone on to their forever homes, and Bella is now contemplating her own future.

When she first came to us, Bella was a genuine scaredy cat and needed time to adjust to her new surroundings. On the shy side, she was unsure about people. Now that she has been building trust while in foster care, she is showing signs that she might decide it would be great to live in a home with a loving person or two.

Hiding made Bella feel safe, and once she felt safe and less scared, she started to come out to investigate crunchy treats. Good snacks make her brave! She has now progressed to coming out for some pets and cuddles. She has even rubbed up against her foster and purred! She's also starting to feel safe enough to explore her surroundings. Given her progress, we think that with time and patience she could become a cuddle bug.

Bella will need a calm, quieter home with a patient adult or two who will let her acclimate at her own pace. She might also be OK with a calm cat-friendly kitty buddy. Cats who love their people can often teach shy cats the ins and outs of being a happy housecat, including that their people are indeed friend-shaped.

If you would love to give Bella the gift of learning what a safe, loving home is like, contact us today!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
