Sweet, Spicy, Seasoned

Meatball Matthew will come up to you and politely mew for your attention! Then he will nudge you with his nose, sit next to you, and purrrrrrr. His favorite way to spend the day is being sweet and cuddly!

At this point, Matthew thinks playing is overrated - he got plenty of that when he was a youngster, and now is his time to relax in the sun! He'd rather save his energy for snuggling and purring.

Matthew gets along well with his co-foster kitty; they're not besties, but they easily spend time together in the same space. Matthew likes to sit on the bed while his feline friend lounges on the floor. They are respectful with each other and happily share a Churu every afternoon!

As far as the dogs in his foster home go, Matthew has the philosophy that "dogs are to be smelled but not seen." He likes when they burrow under a blanket, because he will sit on top of them, enjoying their warmth! Apparently, he thinks dogs are fine under a blanket as a warm throne, but otherwise he will steer clear of them and give them a hiss when he sees them walk by.

Matthew came to APA! feeling poorly, and is bouncing back nicely! We are helping him to gain weight, which is fine with him - he is a quiet guy until there is food, and then he reverts back to his kitten days, excitedly and unabashedly demanding his dinner. He has an abnormally curved spine, which gives him an odd gait when he walks - it's kind of half-stalking-prey and half-wobble. It doesn't bother him, and while he might not jump up on a counter and could use a low-entry litter box, he has no problem getting on the sofa to cuddle with you! And if your house has stairs, make sure he's protected from taking a tumble down them.

The ideal home for Matthew is either dog-free, or with good-natured dogs who are willing to be his warm throne-on-demand. He would fit best in a lower-traffic home with adults, young adults, and older kids who can be gentle and loving with him.

Matthew needs some time to get to know you, and might be adamantly standoffish at first; then, he is sweet and cuddly! (Though it might be sooner rather than later if food is involved.) He has a cute big head, squish-mallow cheeks, and a handsome brown mackerel tabby coat.
