Update 9/24: Welcome to all of the participants from across the country! We are having a great time getting to know you and talk about no-kill in Austin and in your cities. Thanks to KXAN for the article about the workshop.
Today we announce the formation of American Pets Alive!
Since Austin is close to becoming the largest no-kill city in the US, we've been inundated with requests for help in communities around the country. We've formed American Pets Alive! to help spread the grassroots no-kill movement with these other communities.
On September 26th-27th, we are hosting a No Kill Workshop in Austin to teach other communities about our programs that have enabled us to save 10,000 dogs and cats in the last 3 years who would have been killed within hours if we hadn't rescued them. We'll also have speakers talk about topics like political advocacy and how to save animals from within your city shelter, instead of starting your own rescue program.
We will also have optional Field Trips to shadow Bottle Baby/Parvo/Medical and Off site Adoptions on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The field trips on Monday and Tuesday will occur during some of the presentations, to accommodate those who can only stay for those two days. If you can extend your trip and stay for Sunday and/or Wednesday, you can take advantage of the field trips without missing any of the presentations on Monday and Tuesday.
We are thrilled about the opportunity to help others save pets in other communities. We are currently working on the American Pets Alive! website where we'll share the work that's happening around the country to make no-kill communities across America and look forward to unveiling that soon.
