Sugar was scheduled to be killed at the shelter in March of this year. The day before she was to die, APA got some space in foster care and was able to pull her out of the shelter. She was adopted by a fantastic family, who emailed us recently with an update on Sugar. Here is what she says:
"I adopted Lovey (renamed Sugar) in early March from the PetSmart at Mueller, and it has been wonderful! We have finished our first obedience class, and have been working up to 3 miles of running together, to further build up her self-confidence.
This morning we competed in the 1st annual CapTex Doggie Duathlon, which consisted of pets with their people completing a 300m swim in Town Lake, followed by a 1 mile run. There were about 30 pets/people competing. Sugar did such a good job, I wanted to share it with you. She wore her new life vest & swam like a champ! Her running endurance has also improved greatly over the last month, and we finished the entire race in 23 minutes. I'm so proud of her!
She has been a wonderful addition to my family, and I am so thankful for your organization's willingness to rescue her from TLAC. That afforded me the chance to meet her & welcome her into my home. She is such a sweet, sweet girl."
